Rain or Shine – Series Description

As if nothing has happened, as if nothing will happen...isn’t that life?” – Raymond Carver, Cathedral

This drama is not about the ‘wind’ that blows unexpectedly, but about the ‘fire’ that ever guards that place.

This is a story about people who live their daily lives withstanding the fierce wind as if nothing has happened, who are great for appearing inconsequential.

It is not about attempting to call beautiful things ‘beautiful.’

Rather, we believe that discovering beauty in insufficient, fallible, insignificant human beings is the meaning to be gained through this drama.

They call the current Republic of Korea an age without hope, the ‘Hell Joseon’ in which people cannot even dream.

However, rather than being scared of failure and listlessly sinking to one’s knees,

we dare to suggest, so as not to have any regrets, why not embrace even a vain hope and seek to create your own possibilities?

We wish to show you the tenacious daily lives of people who are abject and in pain, yet who embrace each other and comfort each other not to be worn down.

We remember the banner that was displayed at Paegmok Port two years ago.

From the mothers of 5.18 to the mothers of 4.16,

‘Let out your bitterness. Be strong. Do not break down.’

The fact that the strength that makes people for whom living is like hell go on living, comes from the people who share that pain and extend their hands with all their might.

Telling people that, ‘It’s alright – you are not alone.’

This miserable world,

Nevertheless, that ‘people’ are our only hope, and ‘people’ alone are our salvation. That is what we wish to say.

It is our hope that through this drama you will join us in sharing some small comfort and gentle laughter.
