Jisoo, a member of the group BLACKPINK, showcased her broad dramatic range in her first foray into acting.

In JTBC’s weekend drama Snowdrop, which concluded its final broadcast on the 30th, Jisoo demonstrated many different sides to herself, ranging from a cheerful college first year to the protagonist of a tragic romance.

Viewers praised her high synchronization rate with Eun Young Ro, a fresh-faced and pure-hearted first year student in Hosu Women’s University’s English Department. The sight of Young Ro avoiding Im Soo Ho(Jung Hae In)’s gaze and blushing while not knowing what to do with herself evoked empathy from anyone who has ever been in love.

Jisoo realistically portrayed the transformation that Young Ro undergoes as she faces numerous incidents. In particular, the sight of Young Ro struggling with a sense of betrayal upon learning that Soo Ho was a North Korean operative, or shedding endless tears of self-recrimination over having endangered so many people due to her mistake, was a complete 180°turn from the fresh-faced young woman of the earlier episodes of the drama. Jisoo portrayed Young Ro with great care and a poised gaze.

She also sensitively imbued the emotional arc of the character of ‘Eun Young Ro,’ whose tear ducts never saw a dry day, with her own unique atmosphere. Jisoo’s tearful acting, such as when she called out for her father Eun Chang Soo(Heo Jun Ho) amidst a hostage crisis that is spiraling out of control, “Please save us, I can’t trust anyone!” or when she pulled a dying Soo Ho close and sobbed inconsolably, tore at viewers’ hearts.

In the final episode, the sight of her longing for Soo Ho while listening to the tape with his message on it evoked a poignant atmosphere. Jisoo’s mournful acting, in which she perfectly portrayed Young Ro’s lamentable reality and sorrow as she hugged the cassette player to her heart and sobbed, was ‘Eun Young Ro’ personified.

Jisoo’s first foray into acting, in which she displayed her broad dramatic range as the heroine of Snowdrop, has been lauded as an excellent performance, garnering further anticipation as to what she will do next.

We look forward to Jisoo’s next steps as she steadily expands her acting spectrum in tandem with her BLACKPINK activities.
