The following are excerpts from Kim Min Gyu’s wrap interviews for Business Proposal (2022), but we’ve decided to include the segments in which he talks about Snowdrop here, mainly because they’re heartwarming and worth sharing.
Normally, there would have been similar wrap interviews for Snowdrop as well, but thanks to all of the controversy, they never happened ㅠㅠ

‘Business Proposal’ Kim Min Gyu “Jung Hae In, Even from a man’s perspective he’s cool.. he’s a role model you can learn a lot from”
Kim Min Gyu also received support from the actors who appeared in Snowdrop with him. “Everyone cheered for me in a variety of ways, calling me a ‘glasses man’ and such. I was moved by the fact that Hae In-ie hyung complimented me a lot, saying he enjoyed watching [the drama]. I was so happy. He told me my chemistry with Seol In Ah was good and that I’d done really well. Jung Hae In hyung is my role model. He’s a person there’s so much to learn from, and even from a man’s perspective he’s cool. Maybe that’s why, but I’ve come to think that, later on, when I get to be that age, I also want to be that kind of actor. In terms of his acting as well, he does a wide variety of things, right? Those parts [of him] are also really cool, and there’s a lot to learn from. On set, he leads everyone and becomes their strength. Mentally, as well, he supports you and shares your concerns, he listens to you, and he offers advice, too. He’s someone who knows well what it is a person needs,” he said.

‘Business Proposal’ Kim Min Gyu “Role model=Jung Hae In, He’s a sunbae you can learn a lot from, even from a man’s perspective he’s cool”
Kim Min Gyu gained many international fans via his previous drama, JTBC’s Snowdrop, and maintains a close friendship with Jung Hae In, whom he met during this production.

He revealed, “Jung Hae In sunbae-nim said that he really enjoyed Business Proposal, and called me a ‘glasses man.’ (laughs) He gave me a lot of compliments, and told me my chemistry with Seol In Ah-ssi was good. He’s a sunbae I really like, so all of his feedback made me happy.”
Kim Min Gyu, who picked Jung Hae In as his role model, said, “He’s a sunbae with so much to learn from, and even from a man’s perspective, he’s cool. Later on, when I get to be his age, I thought, ‘I want to become that sort of actor,'” and continued, “In acting, as well, he accomplishes a wide variety of things, and on set he led all of the actors. He’s a sunbae who supports you mentally, and listens to your concerns, too. He also offers a lot of good advice. It seems like he knows what the other person needs,” indicating his feelings of gratitude.

When told that, given [Business Proposal‘s] popularity, it seems that he must have received a variety of reactions from his friends and fellow actors, Kim Min Gyu said, “I met up with Jung Hae In sunbae, and he told me he really enjoyed it. As my sunbae, and also as a fellow actor, he talked to me a lot about what I did well. I was extremely happy. He’s a sunbae I really admire, so I felt proud that he said he enjoyed it, and I was moved when he said he felt good that I had recieved so much recognition.”

Kim Min Gyu, who says that Jung Hae In has taken care of him a lot since the time of JTBC’s Snowdrop, says, “He’s a sunbae who’s sincere about acting. When you’re with him, he lends you strength. He’s a sunbae who gives off positive energy. He’s such a good sunbae,” expressing his affection for Jung Hae In at length.
He even picked Jung Hae In as his role model. Kim Min Gyu said, “I think Jung Hae In sunbae is a sunbae who has every type of appeal. That goes for the way he conducts himself as an actor, and for acting-related things as well. He doesn’t come and go at his pleasure.* He’s really aging cooly, and he seems to be getting steadily cooler,” expressing his admiration for Jung Hae In.
*Note: Meaning that he isn’t fickle or selfish.
‘Business Proposal → Snowdrop’ Kim Min Gyu, Successful Image Change... “Role model=Jung Hae In“
Kim Min Gyu picked Because This is My First Life (2017), Snowdrop (2021), and Business Proposal (2022) as the three productions that became turning points in his life as an actor.

He explained, “Because This is My First Life was the very first production in which people took interest in me as an actor. Snowdrop and Business Proposal were productions where I was able to show that ‘Kim Min Gyu had an image change.'”
Kim Min Gyu gave an impassioned performance in Snowdrop as well, in which he displayed his impressive muscles and athletic body as a North Korean operative overflowing with belief in his motherland.
Thinking of Jung Hae In, whom he collaborated with in Snowdrop, he added, “I want to become like Jung Hae In sunbae. He seems to possess every type of appeal. That goes for the way he conducts himself as an actor, and I think his acting is also steadily becoming even cooler,” adding that, “My ultimate goal is that I want to become an actor whom people trust* [to always act well] and with whom they can empathize.”
*Note: This is a common phrase. In Korean, the term is ‘mitgo bo-neun pae’u’ (믿고 보는 배우), which literally translates to, ‘an actor you trust and watch.’ It’s commonly contracted into ‘mit-bo pae’u’ (믿보 배우) for short.

Park Ha Seon: Oh, you’re taking the safe option again? (laughs)
Kim Min Gyu: (Laughs) No, I really.. For the first time, watching him, watching Hae In-ie hyung, he’s the first actor I thought, ‘Ah [he’s] really, really a cool actor.’ Truly, later on, if I improve more and advance, he’s a hyung who made me think, ‘Ah, I have to become an actor like Hae In-ie hyung.’ That’s why..
Park Ha Seon: You truly mean it sincerely, that’s why..
Kim Min Gyu: Yes, that’s why.. I want to do a production with Hae In-ie hyung again once more for sure, yes.
