This pair of scenes appears in the EP16 script right after the scene in which Han-na and Reporter Gal make their late-night radio broadcast and before the scene of Soo-ho and Cheong-ya’s fireside chat on their trek to the port. I get that, with everything going on, this pair of scenes may have slowed down the episode’s pacing (and runtime was at a premium) but it’s a nice parallel between Young-ro looking at the paper airplanes and the siphon coffee and Soo-ho looking at his coffee and the cassette tape, each thinking of the other at the same time. As though, even apart, their hearts are in sync.
