Snowdrop – DS : EP14 Scene 61-63

Here it is: the Guitar Scene that D+ originally posted a thumbnail for, disappointing viewers everywhere when the scene never appeared in the episode. Before you get too disappointed, though, Scene 62 wasn’t so much deleted as reshuffled and reimagined into the final episode’s bonus scene (originally Soo-ho’s cassette tape letter to Young-ro was THE END ㅠ ㅠ). Still, I so wish she could have heard him play...

Scene 614F Attic Room
Young-ro trudges inside, her tears falling silently only now that she’s alone. Sensing that someone has followed her into the attic room, she hurries to wipe her tears away with her palms ... Soo-ho comes close and stands beside her with a heavy heart. Young-ro tries desperately to pretend she’s perfectly fine and starts to leave. Soo-ho catches hold of her arm.
Young-ro(in that moment, her tears overflow and she hurries to wipe them away with a hand)
Soo-ho(feels absolutely terrible for her)
Young-roI’m okay. (she says, shedding silent tears)
Soo-ho(draws Young-ro into his arms)
Young-ro(buries her face in Soo-ho’s chest and cries quietly)
Soo-ho(hugs Young-ro as though comforting her with his entire being)
Young-ro(that warm embrace is a comfort, but)
Soo-ho(holding her tightly) Comrade Kang said she would return tonight. As soon as she returns, I’m going to release everyone.
Young-ro(draws out of his arms and gazes at him with earnest eyes) You mean it?

Flashback > EP03 Scene 70, over the image of Soo-ho and Young-ro stacking matchsticks into a tower together, the intro to Haebaragi’s ‘Jewel Box of My Heart’ starts to play ...
At some point, Soo-ho and Young-ro have moved to sit side by side at the window. Soo-ho sings for her while playing a battered old guitar ...
Soo-ho♪ I know it, the fact that we are in love
Young-ro(with her heart in her eyes)
Soo-ho♪ We knew, didn’t we, that we love each other deeply
Young-ro(with eyes full of love)
Scene 62Roma Café (Imaginary Scene)
Soo-ho sits on stage playing the guitar and singing for Young-ro, his one-person audience. (As though Young-ro’s assertion that she would come to watch him play every day, come rain or snow, has become reality) outside the window, snow falls and then rain; autumn leaves fall and flower petals flutter down. And still, the two gaze only at each other, like flowers facing the sun,* their clothing and gazes unchanging. Haebaragi’s song plays~

*n.b. ‘Haebaragi’ is the name of the duo that wrote ‘Jewel Box of My Heart’ and means ‘sunflower’ (lit. ‘sun-gazer’) which she uses here as a verb: ‘sun-gazing at each other.’
♪ We loved a dream that shone all the higher
For the fact that the scent riding on the sunlight doesn’t last long
Within an eternity in which I want to go, yet am unable to go to you, want to see, yet am unable to see you Hm~ Hm~
Within an eternity in which I want to go, yet am unable to go to you, want to see, yet am unable to see you Hm~ Hm~
Scene 634F Attic Room
Soo-ho♪ I think, in this way, no one knows of our love
Young-ro(watching him)
Soo-ho♪ Until that final moment when I have to forget, I want to love you
This is Soo-ho’s confession. Young-ro comes close and sits right next to Soo-ho, resting her head on his shoulder, as though she’ll never leave his side, as though that moment when they’ll have no choice but to forget will never come. Soo-ho sets the guitar aside and wraps a heavy arm around her shoulders, holding Young-ro as though he’ll never let her go ...
